At a Glance
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join the Solarfective Team. This position is responsible for executing tactical implementations of the Software Center of Excellence DevOps Frameworks, monitoring and processes. This is a mid-level role on a team of DevOps engineers and drives the successful execution of the continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines for deployment of Legrand’s products - inclusive of cloud,
mobile, desktop web applications, firmware, as well as embedded software on gateway and edge devices. The candidate has experience with virtualization strategies, tools, and their applicability to development productivity and Release uptime. This role helps in developing and sustaining these systems, pipelines, frameworks and processes to mature and release Legrand software used to commission and control best-in-class residential and commercial building control systems. This work encompasses multiple product lines and technologies on a cloud based PaaS distributed architecture system.

What Will You Do?
1. Automate select systems administration tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools
2. Suggests technical alternatives and improves/streamlines processes and systems
3. Design, build and maintain a stable and efficient infrastructure to optimize service delivery across production, QA, and development environments throughout the development lifecycle.
4. Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and continuously improve building, packaging, and deployment processes.
5. Implement automated infrastructure capabilities like backups, security tools, monitoring.
6. Utilize a consistent DevOps approach to improve all phases of the process and ensure end-toend quality across functions.
7. View development and deployment activities from a security-centric lens.
8. Ensures that Engineering and Production assets and systems are secure.
9. Support and assist Product Development teams.
10. Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Skills
Education: BS required. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cyber Security preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years related experience.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Experience with programming and scripting with languages like Python, Perl, Bash, JavaScript, Java, SQL, C#, C++/C, GoLang, Rust, etc.
  • Familiar with the Agile development methodology
  • Must have exposure to and understanding of software development, including familiarity with data types, syntax and control structures. Demonstrated ability to debug complex application problems.
  • Experience with deployment/configuration management tools like Jenkins, Maven, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Azure DevOps, Terraform.
  • Experience with version control tools like GIT, Bitbucket, TFS.
  • Experience with network infrastructure, database, cloud and data center operations, and security protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, Windows, and MacOS.
  • Understands and has experience working with Public Cloud offerings like Azure and AWS.
  • Expertise in managing and building Kubernetes based deployments of engineering and Production systems.
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Able to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified workload.
  • Demonstrated problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customers’ needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.
